As with most everything that we do in society, there are rules and regulations. For the State of South Carolina, the Department of Natural Resources governs our rules and regulations. There is a wealth of information regarding fishing, what is allowed and what you can be penalized for. I strongly urge every fisherman to check out their local rules and regulations. It is better to be safe than to have to pay a large fine or face a prison sentence.

For more information on the South Carolina rules and regulations, visit the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.

What is the Easiest Way to get Children Interested in Fishing?

I believe one of the hardest things to do is get kids interested in fishing. They are not patient to start with, and then you tell them they have to wait or they have to watch their line to see if they have a bite??? Most kids, in today’s busy society are not interested in the least in waiting around to see what happens.

Some great pointers on getting your children interested in fishing are to take them to a local fishing event where they are showing them how to fish! Most of the time they are free, they have volunteers there to help entice them, and usually if it is in a stocked lake or pond, their chances are pretty high for hooking a fish! Don’t forget, it is easier for kids to see when a fish is on their line if you use a bobber. Once they hook their first fish, it makes things a lot easier from there on out!

Well – everyone – here we go! I have always been very passionate about fishing. It is the one place that I can go and actually have peace and quiet. Crazy, isn’t it? I can go fishing and not have to worry about taking out the trash or cutting the grass. Yes – all of the things on the “honey do list.” There just doesn’t seem to be anything like being able to cast the line and reel in a fish. I have even been fishing when I actually had to break the ice off of my line to reel in the fish. Nothing wrong with that. Dyco Outdoors is for you to enjoy the same excitement I do. I hope you get as much out of the site as I will put into it. Let me know what you think!

It’s a nice day to go fishing, isn’t it?
